Nail Trimming

Nail trims can seem like such a tedious, unnecessary and easily forgotten task, but looking more closely at the importance of keeping tidy toes, it may not be as unnecessary as we think. Dog’s nails provide important function in their everyday life and when kept at correct length, they benefit the dogs mobility.

Not only are long nails unattractive, when allowed to grow too long and unkempt, it can allow the structure of their foot to change entirely. When their nails grow too long to the point of touching the ground, each step taken puts pressure on the nail bed, which creates pain in the toe joint and forces the foot backward. This leads to an unnatural gait, making them more susceptible to injuries, as well as making walking and running more painful and difficult. Extended exposure to walking and running with long nails can lead to chronic problems such as arthritis and recurrent pain.

In addition to function, long nails pose a risk of cracking and breaking which then leads to risk of infection and other potential long term issues. When a dog breaks a nail, the soft, sensitive inner tissue becomes exposed and vulnerable to infections.

Our main focus is to be clear and transparent with clients. Dog Adventures is now offering Nail Trims as a full service! For now, clipper trims only.

With extensive desensitization training, and bonding, our nail trim service is $30
